The largest share of vacancies is for Track Maintainer Grade IV, followed by Pointsman-B and Assistant (S&T) posts.

Vacancies are distributed across different Railway Zones and Production Units. RRB Group D 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for RRB Group D Level-1 posts had to satisfy the prescribed educational, age, nationality and other conditions mentioned in CEN 09/2025.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed one of the qualifications prescribed for the notified Level-1 posts:

  • Class 10th or Matriculation from a recognized board
  • ITI qualification from a recognized institution, wherever applicable
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT, as prescribed in the notification

General Intelligence and Reasoning

RRB Group D Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CBT performance are required to qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), except for categories specifically exempted under the recruitment rules.

The PET is qualifying in nature.

PET Standards for Male Candidates

  • Lift and carry 35 kg for 100 metres within 2 minutes without putting the weight down
  • Run 1000 metres within 4 minutes 15 seconds
  • One chance is provided for the respective physical tasks

PET Standards for Female Candidates

  • Lift and carry 20 kg for 100 metres within 2 minutes without putting the weight down
  • Run 1000 metres within 5 minutes 40 seconds
  • One chance is provided for the respective physical tasks

Course Completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway establishments have specific provisions under the notification, including exemption from PET where applicable.

RRB Group D Selection Process 2026

The selection process for RRB Group D Level-1 posts generally follows these stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification
  4. Medical Examination

The CBT is used for shortlisting candidates for the next stage. PET is qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify the required stages are called for document verification and medical examination according to the recruitment rules.
